Introduction

At ScaleYOU, we deliberately use Japanese terms for our organizing principles because Lean thinking -though born in the U.S. – was refined into a transformative management system by Toyota and Japanese practitioners. Words like Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Gemba carry decades of hands-on learning and instantly convey complex ideas in a way English translations cannot. And with long-time team member Esther Bieto’s fluency in Japanese – and our CEO’s passion for Japanese culture – these terms feel natural to our heritage and coaching style.

Defining Japanese Words is no easy task because Japanese is a “picture” language, but here is our attempt.

What a powerful statement.  While one might feel that this statement is borderline hyperbole, we feel that it is closer to how we view the customer than anything we have come across.
